The Importance of Sustainable Fashion in Today's World

What is sustainable fashion?

Sustainable fashion is finding a balance when designing, manufacturing, and consuming clothes. It means avoiding the depletion of natural resources, but also the exploitation of individuals and communities.

What is ethical fashion?

Ethical fashion goes beyond your local labour laws and covers a wide range of issues such as living wages, working conditions, animal welfare, and vegan fashion.

Fast Fashion vs. Sustainable Fashion

Fast Fashion can be defined as "a model of mass-producing" cheaply made, hot items that are currently in trend at a very low price. One of the reasons that this is done is because of how the industry wants to meet consumer demand. Eventually, this will result in overproduction and an increase in pollution. Sustainable Fashion involves including a long term approach and thinking before buying clothes or accessories. This may include thinking about who are people behind the process, materials used, and effects on the planet.
